A UK leading food manufacturer wanted to improve its temporary labour supply and the quality of the candidates they were being provided. The site saw benefits of not having to recruit permanent employees if the quality of the temporary labour was right and a temp to perm route could be provided by the agency labour supplier.
Language had also been an issue and the site needed to ensure health & safety and food safety for all its workers.
Industrious delivered a phased plan to recruit key skills that provided a core temporary workforce. Then, we established a flexible labour pool to meet the varying daily demands. Labour numbers varied between 50 – 260.
Since Industrious took over the contract, the site has seen the following benefits:
- Over 60 people have gone permanent
- Roles have been filled in QA and team leaders
- Union involvement with learning centre and Learn Direct Representatives appointed
- Excellent customer audits around temporary labour provision
- All workers supplied had been tested to ESOL framework - level 2
